Peter Ford provides consultancy services in privacy, security and telecommunications. In July, 2004, he retired from the position of First Assistant Secretary, Information and Security Law Division of the Australian Attorney-General's Department. The Division was formed in February 1997 and was responsible for policy relating to privacy, freedom of information, intellectual property, legal aspects of electronic commerce and support to the Attorney-General on national security, critical infrastructure protection and electronic surveillance aspects of law enforcement policy. Prior to that, he worked in areas of human rights, court administration, administrative law, freedom of information and constitutional law. As Divisional Head, he served as Agency Coordinator, a statutory position under the Telecommunications Act 1991, and also served on the Government Public Key Authority, the National Electronic Authentication Council, the Board of CrimTrac and the Privacy Advisory Committee.

Between 2000 and 2003 Peter chaired the OECD Working Party on Information Security and Privacy which, in 2002, produced the OECD Guidelines for the Security of Information Systems and Networks: Towards a Culture of Security. He also chaired the APEC Privacy Sub-Group, which produced the APEC Privacy Framework and was Vice-Chair of the APEC Electronic Commerce Steering Group with responsibilities for confidence and trust building measures until May 2004.

He supervised the development of Australia's private sector privacy legislation and legislative reforms to the law and policy on electronic commerce, copyright, counter-terrorism, critical infrastructure protection and national security. He has published articles in the areas of privacy, human rights, telecommunications interception and constitutional law. From March 2004 until his retirement in July 2004, he acted as Deputy Secretary, with responsibility for Criminal Justice and Security. Since retirement, he has been engaged by the APEC Electronic Commerce Steering Committee to provide seminars to officials of developing economies on implementing the APEC Privacy Framework.

Peter Fritz AM is Managing Director of Global Access Partners and Group Managing Director of TCG® - a network of private, independent and mutually supportive companies which over the last three decades has produced many breakthrough discoveries in computer and communication technologies.

In 1993, some of the 65 companies in the TCG Group were publicly floated on the Australian Stock Exchange as TechComm Group Limited (now called Utility Computer Services UXC), with great success. Another former TCG company floated on the New York Stock Exchange in November 1997 for US$600m, making it the largest technology company to be established in Australia until that time.

Peter's innovative management style and corporate structuring has lead to the creation of a business model which is being copied by many successful entrepreneurs, and has become part of university undergraduate and masters programs in business management in Australia and around the world.

Peter Fritz chairs a number of influential government and private enterprise boards and is active in the international arena, including having represented Australia on the OECD Small and Medium Size Enterprise Committee. He is the holder of six degrees and professional qualifications, is a recipient of the Order of Australia, and has received many other honours.

John Rimmer is a senior strategist with a long history of policy innovation, corporate governance and senior executive roles. He now serves as a Board member on public sector and private companies.

He was until February 2004 the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Government's National Office for the Information Economy. Between 1997 and 2000 he undertook a range of consulting and non-executive Board appointments. Until 1997 he held leadership positions in Victorian Government Health, Premier's and State Development portfolios.

John has particular strengths in identifying and analysing corporate strategies. His judgement and corporate governance skills make him an excellent board member and advisor to boards in both the public and private sectors. He has a well developed understanding of government and health services, intergovernmental relations, community development and the strategic impact of information and communications technologies. Most recently the focus of his attention has been on the drivers of innovation in Australian firms and the alignment of business strategy and information technology investments in complex organisations.

In a voluntary capacity John is actively involved in swimming sports, until recently as President of a successful swimming club and now as a technical official in Swimming Victoria.

Neville Stevens AO is Chairman of GTC (Global Trust Centre) Advisory Board. He left the Australian Public Serviced in 2001, after 30 years in a variety of senior positions in the Departments of Prime Minister & Cabinet, Industry and Communications, Information Technology & the Arts.

For the last ten years he was Secretary of initially the Industry Department and then the Communications, IT and the Arts Department.

Since leaving the Government Neville have provided advice to both government and the private sector on a range of issues, primarily in the fields of communications, IT and renewable energy. He is currently Chair of the Australian Communications Industry Forum ( ACIF); Chair of the Australian Centre for Advanced Computing and Communications ( AC3), Chair of the Governance Board oversighting Weapons acquisitions by the Australian Defence Forces; Chair of the National ICT Australia research centre ( NICTA) and Member of the Advisory Board for the ARC Centre of Excellence for Complex Systems.

Neville Stevens is the Officer in the Order of Australia and a recipient of the Centenary Medal.

Stephen Wilson is a world expert on electronic authentication. His company Lockstep Consulting provides independent research, analysis and advice on authentication strategy, policy, and the integration of business processes and security technology.

After completing degrees in physics and electronics, Stephen spent nine years in software engineering and medical device R&D, in Australia and the US. He entered the e-security industry in 1995. Between then and 2003 he held senior management and principal consultant positions with Security Domain, KPMG Consulting, PricewaterhouseCoopers beTRUSTed and SecureNet. In 1998 he conceived the pioneering Enshrine business PKI, introducing two year evergreen SSL certificates for the first time, now industry standard worldwide. In 1999 he made the breakthrough proposal to build cross-border PKI on existing ISO 17025 accreditation and mutual recognition frameworks. In January 2004 he founded Lockstep.

Stephen is a highly respected analyst and commentator on all aspects of digital identity, well known for his penetrating articles, interviews and conference presentations. He has been awarded three PKI related patents for web fraud, anonymity and e-health inventions. He is a member of the Asia PKI Forum, the Gatekeeper Policy Committee, and the Board of the Australian IT Security Forum. From 1998 to 2001 he was Chair of the Certification Forum of Australasia. He is a past member of the National Electronic Authentication Council (NEAC), the APEC eSecurity Task Group, and the Federal Privacy Commissioner's PKI Reference Group.

Through 2005, Stephen was retained by the Australian Government Management Information Office (AGIMO) to assist with the development of the new Gatekeeper Framework. In late 2005 he was engaged by the AGIMO as Consulting Editor for the new Australian Government Smartcard Framework, to develop recommendations regarding FIPS 201 and other standards. Stephen's other recent clients include Medicare Australia, the Internet Industry Association, eASEAN, OASIS (USA), and NSW Health.
